Description
Every stitch in this little set was made by hand by my mother. She knits the way she has for decades — slowly, in the evenings, one row at a time — and this dress and its matching bloomers came off her needles as a pair.
The dress is worked in a soft cream-white with a scattering of tiny pink bobble dots across the yoke, each one knotted in by hand, and a gently scalloped pink edge at the collar, sleeves and hem. The bloomers match, finished with two small pom-poms at the back. It is the kind of set made for a first photograph, a naming day, or simply a cool morning when you want something warm and a little special.
The scattered pink dots across the yoke aren’t part of any pattern — she embroiders each one by hand, on her own, after the knitting is done. It’s her small signature on the piece.
Because it is hand-knit and not made by machine, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Small irregularities are not flaws — they are the evidence of a real person having made it, and they are part of what you are buying.
